A Saturday morning. No alarm. The sun is shining. And the only real question is: where to go for brunch in Ljubljana?
In recent years, Ljubljana has experienced a true culinary awakening. Brunch culture has evolved from a trend into a serious scene, and cafés have started taking coffee so seriously that one now ranks among the top 10 in Europe.
Here’s our curated list – no paid placements, no compromises.

If brunch is mentioned in Ljubljana, the conversation almost always ends at Ek Bistro.
Local, seasonal ingredients, beautifully plated dishes, and flavours that deliver. Think eggs Benedict with slow-cooked beef, French toast on homemade brioche, savoury pancakes with guacamole and hollandaise – all served until 2 PM.
Mimosas? Of course. Weekend queues? Expect them. Worth it? Absolutely.
📍 Wolfova ulica 6
Le Petit Café is one of Ljubljana’s brunch institutions, loved by both locals and visitors.
They serve brunch until 5 PM (rare!), with croissants, croque madame, waffles, pancakes, and egg dishes with a Parisian touch. Located on French Revolution Square, it doesn’t get more fitting than this.
Sunny weekend terrace? Arrive early or book ahead.
📍 Trg francoske revolucije 4
Kavarna Rog is one of those places locals love because it’s simply… good. No pretence.
Sandwiches, croque madame, tuna toast, yoghurt bowls, pancakes, homemade ice cream. Brunch until noon on weekdays and until 2 PM on weekends.
The terrace along the Ljubljanica is beautiful year-round – but on a sunny day, it’s one of the best spots in the city.
📍 Petkovškovo nabrežje 19
Mango Cafe is the kind of place tourists rarely find – and locals quietly love.
Tucked between residential buildings, just a 10-minute walk from Cukrarna. Poached eggs with house-made sauces, Greek yoghurt with granola, and the best part: all-day brunch.
Perfect for slow, lazy mornings.
📍 Mesarska ulica 19
Located where the former Michelin-starred Atelje once stood, AFTR Bistro brings a more relaxed concept – without losing its culinary DNA.
Modern brunch dishes, great atmosphere, and fair prices. Popular with a younger crowd that knows good food.
📍 Nazorjeva ulica 2
At Slovenska Hiša, you won’t find green tea. And that’s exactly the point.
Everything is Slovenian – local cured meats, cheeses, eggs with cracklings, rice pudding. Served on wooden boards in a warm, traditional setting.
For visitors, it’s a culinary highlight. For locals, it’s comfort food in the city centre.
📍 Šentjakobski trg 1
Druga Violina offers more than just great food – it’s also a social inclusion project where most of the staff are people with special needs.
Order traditional Slovenian štruklji and enjoy one of the most meaningful brunch experiences in the city.
📍 Stari trg 21
Bistro Čad sits just below Rožnik hill – slightly outside the centre, but well worth the visit.
Waffles, avocado toast, croissants, healthy bowls… and most importantly: no crowds on sunny weekends.
📍 Pot sodarjev 2
No exaggeration. Črno Zrno ranked among the top cafés in the world in 2025 – #31 globally and #10 in Europe.
Run by Colombian barista Alexander Niño Ruiz, serving exclusively Colombian coffee. Small space, big experience.
Pour-over, espresso, cold brew – all crafted with precision.
📍 Gornji trg 3
Stow Specialty Coffee is part roastery, part academy, part café.
Located inside the City Museum, surrounded by Roman ruins. Expect single-origin beans, expert brewing, and workshops for coffee lovers.
👉 Must try: Ethiopian V60
📍 Gosposka ulica 15
Café Čokl roasts its own beans and promotes a slow coffee culture – no takeaway here.
Local art, terrace near the castle, Chemex and cold brew on the menu. Sustainable, local, authentic.
📍 Krekov trg 8
R&B Cafe Roasters was awarded Roaster of the Year in 2025.
Run by a roaster and a barista duo who control the entire journey from bean to cup. Relaxed atmosphere, great for working or unwinding.
📍 Slovenska cesta 47
TOZD is part café, part bar – and entirely its own thing.
One of the pioneers of specialty coffee in Ljubljana, now also known for natural wines.
Morning coffee, afternoon wine. Perfect balance.
📍 Cankarjeva cesta 8

Ljubljana is the perfect base – but if you have an extra day, there’s more to discover.
Many of our guests head to the Jeruzalem wine region, just two hours away.
There, they find Sibon Wine & Spa Resort – morning coffee with vineyard views, cycling through wine routes, tastings with local winemakers, spa afternoons, and evenings with a glass of Šipon.
A slower pace. Better sleep.
And coffee with a view Ljubljana simply can’t offer.
